When Organic Isn't Really Organic.

http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1599110,00.html

“When organic isn’t really organic” is an article found on the Time website, in the Health section. It addresses issues that arise when organic food contains certain levels of genetically modified organisms without the farmers’ knowledge. Such genetically modified hormones and pesticides can spread through the air. A couple of “natural food produces” then declared that they will look for a new certification for their products, called “non-GMO verified”. Therefore, this new verification will give consumers a relief, knowing the products they are purchasing have no trace of genetically modified organisms.

American World Org - Biotechnology.

The Americans-world organization website is all about public opinions towards genetically modified food. There are three parts to the site and some statistics are compared throughout this debate. The first part discusses Biotechnology, then Genetically Modified food, and lastly Labelling GM foods. They all compare how the public opinions have changed regarding genetically modified food over time. A graph on the site shows their predictions for future beliefs and doubts on Biotechnology.

Cascadian’s farm website provides answers to commonly asked questions about organic food. It explains differences between “organic” and “natural” food labelling according to USDA standards. The article describes how people and the environment can benefit from investing in organic food. They also clearly declare the prohibition of any type of genetically modified crops in their organic livestock. Which means the use of irradiation and sewage sludge, were prohibited in organic food production. In the end they have provided some useful sites for people seeking more information about organic standards.

The “Organic food information” website is pretty self explanatory. It briefly explains why organic food is better for health than genetically modified goods. It seems that the author was trying to convince the audience of this website to consider the option of an organic lifestyle. One interesting fact found on this site was that, an average apple contains over 30 pesticides even after it has been washed. According to this site, the amount of vitamin C found in fruits has noticeably decreased compared to the amount in them during Second World War.
